Turn the valve to Vacuum Mode and attach to a handheld sealer (sold separately) to help keep food fresh in the freezer, fridge, and pantry. Or switch to Marinate Mode to marinate meat, fish, and veggies in minutes instead of hours. These convenient FoodSaver containers nest and stack to help keep your kitchen organized and are designed with premium Tritan material for extreme durability, so they won't crack or stain. I absolutely love the 10cup and smaller design of these containers, but I'm not investing anymore money in them except the smaller version which has never imploded on me. They should re-design the 10cup because they eventually will implode and scare the beejeebies out of you. It mostly happens when you are vacuum sealing. I actually thought someone had shot me a couple of times because it was THAT LOUD! Only one imploded in my fridge that I discovered the next morning. Even if you release the vacuum a little after sealing, the pressure will eventually compromise the cover and it will implode. BOOM!!!

Food last longer, saves money and less waste.
I really do like these containers, but I recommend that one check the containers every couple of days to be sure the seal dot remains down. I noticed that depending upon the type of veggie, these seal dots will pop up, within a couple of days. It is of no consequence as I just reseal the container. What I have been doing is do the seal procedure, wait a few seconds and reseal again. This way I can be sure that all the air is out and that I have a good seal. It is important to be sure that no food is in the way of the center seal area, or close to the sides of the container's seal as this will impede the unit from a proper seal. Also be sure that veggies like lettuce, spinach, etc., are towel dried before placing into container and then proceed with sealing.

Beware Implosion of 10-Cup Container
I purchased this item from Walmart and, while the 3-cup container has held-up well, the 10-cup container suffered a catastrophic failure after only several uses. I contacted customer service and was advised that the best they could do was offer a 20% discount on my next purchase but that it wouldn't include free shipping. After investigating, I found that I could get a better deal on Amazon Prime. I would not recommend the 10-cup container due to the implosion risk.

Potentially Dangerous
Worked fine for a year then top exploded on me about minute after vacuuming while I was placing into fridge. Emailed customer service even proving original order number. Crickets. Shows you how concerned company is… Have Food Saver Brand cylinder-style containers x5 older than these and they are built much better. Disappointed those are no longer available.

Greatest money saver ever.
After my wife died it became even more important when I ended up cooking for one. When she was alive we would break down our costco purchases. Now, while I still do that I also save my leftovers.

Not holding vacuum
I bought this one month ago. I use it with my automatic food saver and works fine. But after a few hours the vacuum is gone in the canisters. I have tried 3 canisters and it's the same problem.
I saw it on the indicator first and then easy opened the canister witout any sound of air flowing in the canister.
I would hope the canister could hold the vacuum for at least some days. Otherwise the meaning of it is gone.

Review: Second generation vacuum sealed containers
First generation vacuum sealed containers didn’t last very long without getting cracks in the structure itself.
This one shown above is what I consider the second generation vacuum sealed container, which is a superior design that I would recommend purchasing it. Highly useful… I have three of each size available.
Only place these products in the top rack of the dishwasher.

Love this product because it let you know when all the air is out of the container. Not like the other products out there yeah, you suck out to much air and the container cracks
