Would NOT live without it!
There was a little bit of a learning curve on this new machine. However, there is NO WAY I would EVER not have this in my kitchen!
I have almost every small appliance known to man, in a special room near my pantry outside my kitchen...THIS is the ONLY one on my counter all the time. I had to purchase a new one as mine got hit with some weird power surge in my kitchen which also took out my new fridge.
I love this particular model because I vacuum seal lots of things in Mason jars and this one does a perfect job of that.
I would give Food Saver 10 stars if possible! It's the best product of its kind!!!
When my two daughters get their new homes, THIS is the one thing they asked for, as a house warming gift from me!

Read before purchasing
I bought this product about 2 weeks ago, I sealed about 6 bags and as I was sealing the last few bags, the product sounded like it was getting weak. Now the unit will not even power on. Very disappointed in this foodsaver. I have had my old one for 10 years. The model number is the sv4440

After 2 weeks of casual use, unit stopped sealing bags and accessary jar sealing function stopped working.
For 2 days I have been trying to solve problems with Foodsaver but to no avail. Foodsaver; phone puts you into AI screens that does not allow you to speak to a human person. When I clicked to chat it said I am in position 1. After waiting 10 minutes with no response, it disconnected me. FoodSaver customer support is the worst I have ever encountered.

Huge piece of Junk
This machine has to be the biggest piece of useless junk that I have ever owned. I use genuine food saver cut to length bags on a roll. Vacuum runs but it takes several attempts to get it to pull down to the point where it will seal. Not ideal but I can work with it. The sealing heat strip doesn't seal on one try. I have to flip the bag over really fast to attempt to seal it again before the vacuum is lost. That only works if the leak isn't too great because the machine makes you wait to seal again while flashing a red light. This machine would make a better Christmas ornament than a vacuum sealer simply due to the red and green lights.

I have had this unit for several years now and use it almost daily for a wide variety of things. From breaking down bulk purchases into meal sized portions, resealing the 1 gallon ziplock bags, )which contain my grandson's chicken nuggets,) to vacuuming storage containers for marinating meats, or storing soups and other leftovers. Because of its relatively small footprint, it has its own place on my counters out of the way, but still easily accessible for daily use. I am extremely happy with it and definitely recommend it for others. In fact, I am looking to purchase one for my niece's wedding gift.

Not so great
This was a great machine—until it wasn’t. I used it very little because sealing and freezing isn’t something I do all the time. After just a couple of years, it suddenly stopped sealing properly.
I contacted customer service to request a replacement part, hoping that might fix the issue. Unfortunately, I was told the machine is no longer under warranty, and no replacement part was offered. If a part is available, no one mentioned it, so I’m assuming there isn’t one.
I’ve been a loyal Foodsaver customer for years, but not anymore. I’ve found other brands of vacuum sealers online, and I’m moving on to try one of those instead!

Loving this Food Saver
I called Food Saver customer support regarding my older model that quit working and needed a new one. I let the rep know my requirements and a suggestion was made that this model would meet my needs. It was absolutely the correct referral. This model is exactly what I wanted, I use it every day! It arrived about a month ago and has worked exceptionally well. I would recommend this unit for not only the sealing capabilities, but also the zip lock bags used with it. Loving this new model!!

Disappointed.
I bought this a few years ago, and I’m disappointed that it doesn’t work as I expected. I would seal the bags, but the food still ended up freezer burnt because the air pressure in the freezer would drop. I started using bubble seal to see if it would improve the situation, but I encountered the same problem. Additionally, the retractable hose doesn't work at all anymore, and there’s no power whatsoever. Now, I'm left with a lot of containers that are useless without proper sealing. Would I recommend this product? The answer is no.

Liquids tend to expand in the freezer, and this could compromise that vacuum seal. The way you get around this is to freeze the liquids first and then vacuum seal.
