2 Defective FoodSavers or Model Just Doesn't Work
I bought this model a week ago. I could not get the bag to vacuum. So I though user error, I talked with my brother who has same model and he told me to pull the open end out of the drip tray a little. So I tried that, didn't work. I tried putting it further into the drip tray, didn't work. I looked up some common issues on YouTube and none of them worked. I thought maybe this one is just defective and exchanged it. I just tried it again and same issue. The handheld vacuum worked great, but not the main vacuum sealer. Is this just a coincidence that 2 didn't work? Could be, so I am going to exchange one more time tomorrow. I will update this review accordingly.

Failed after two uses
We bought the VS3182 less than 3 months ago. The first use was great and then today we attempted to package and seal several packages of salmon and lamb chops. We used the hand vac for the zip lock bags. It worked great but then we went back to the cut bags for the salmon and nothing worked. We cannot change modes, in fact we can't do anything with it. I read the troubleshooting pages but nothing addressed the problem. Sadly we are very disappointed and intend to return it to Costco. We even purchased additional rolls and bags but without a functioning unit those are pretty much useless as well. I would not recommend this model to anyone.

We Are Still Undecided
The first food saver unit we purchased is still working flawlessly (purchased several years ago), but elected to purchase an upgrade due to all of the new features. I purchase the VS3120 which appears to be a derivative of this model from Target. We have used the unit a handful of times and it no longer vacuum seals. I am not sure if the component supplier was changed over the years or the contract manufacturer may be different, but this unit was a lemon. Fortunately we are still able to return the unit to Target and intend to do just that. I am trying to determine whether or not we should purchase the same unit, an upgraded unit, or a different brand/provider all together. We are extremely dissatisfied with this product!

A step down
Costco version of the 3182 model purchased in 1/21, and got it because a replacement drip tray was unavailable for the one I had. I've owned 4 foodsavers over the years and this is, by far, my least favorite. The vacuum pump is wimpier than the others, so sealing takes longer. The ergonomics are awful, as you need to position the bag end in the drip tray, hold it in perfect position with one hand, while throwing a lever to lock the lid and then pushing the vacuum button. Sounds simple until you try to do this with wet hands, or a large bag of moist food items. The Foodsaver concept is great, but why can't they just settle on a product design that actually works instead of offering numerous models that do basically the same thing with subtle twists that are impossible to differentiate among before purchasing?

Not basic at all! Good machine for the price
I bought this back in March and have not had any issues with it. The first accessory I bought was the large mouth jar vaccum sealer adapter. Initially I thought that I was missing the hose and then got discouraged after getting weak seals by putting that retractable ziploc bag sealer flush on the lid adapter to no avail. I was going to order the small lid adapter and accessory hose but no supply was available. Tonight I did some searching on makeshift ways to vaccum seal my jars and discovered that the machine DOES has an attachment for the jar sealer attachment, they hid it very well! Pull out the retractable cord and separate the plastic pieces where the black plastic meets the clear plastic. There is a small nipple in there that attaches directly to the lid sealer without an additional hose or adapter. See photo below! You're welcome! Foodsaver should send me a small lid adapter for being great customer service help on their page.

Wow, great failire
Foodsaver definitely had quality in mind when they engineered this product, they made sure to avoid every checkbox for a quality product with extra close attention paid to the little details that would make any sane person yell with rage. Cord storage: terrible. Cord length: just barely longer than the length of the machine but offset to one side so you can only use it as n one direction. Locking mechanism: sub par and not strong enough to operate without human interaction. Bag cutter: hidden to make you waste bags since that’s where they make their money. Vacuum motor: not wining any races. I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone with rage issues or who’s marriage is rocky as it will certainly add tension to any situation.

I love it!
I love this FoodSaver® VS3182 Multi-Use Vacuum Sealing & Food Preservation System. It came with so many bags and a bowl for storing/marinating foods. The FoodSaver® VS3182 Multi-Use Vacuum Sealing & Food Preservation System is so sleek and compact that it doesn’t take up a lot of counter space. The stainless steel exterior is very pretty and easy to clean. I know this FoodSaver will be used multiple times per week.
If I had to make a suggestion, I’d like for the instructions to be easier to follow. The instructions for marinating in the bowl doesn’t say if it should leave the bowl connected or not. It also doesn’t mention that if I disconnect the hand held sealer while the top button is in the marinating position that the a vacuum seal will release. Logically I know it should be simple to know, but I did not as I’ve never used a vacuum sealing system before.

Long lasting freshness
This was such a treat! We love to make beef Jerky and thought the food saver would be great to save and ship our beef jerky to our family out of state. This product was all we wanted and more! We love the marinating dish. It is so easy to use and with the vacuum sealing technology the marinade is drawn through the meat and makes a very flavorful meal. We have used this product on Beef, Chicken, and Fish. We are excited to try this system on vegetables. It is made really well and comes with everything you need to get started. Overall, we are very pleased with this product and cant wait to try more foods to save and preserve.

Hello! 1.&nbsp; Always allow 20 seconds between seals. Under heavy usage, appliance will shut off automatically and Red Light will flash. Wait for 20 min. for unit to cool off. 2. Always wait 20 seconds between seals. 3. Avoid having vacuum pump running more than 120 seconds. If the pump runs for 120 seconds the unit times out and shuts off the pump not due to overheat but because it was not reaching vacuum level. If this is happening there could be a vacuum leak and you should test the bag or check the gaskets. Hello! First you need to remove the old one. To do that, simply squeeze the cutter with your fingers from both sides (you may widen the hole with your other hand a bit to make the removing easier) and pull the cutter out.
