The FM5460 System incorporates new features like the Express Bag Maker that reduces vacuum sealing steps by 50%* because it pre-seals the bottom end of your next bag each time. The Vacuum View Window allows you to see where you seal, giving you better control during vacuum sealing allowing you to reduce the roll waste up to 30 percent*. The Lower Seal and Cut Bar design allows you to use your countertop as your work space, providing ease and convenience for making custom-sized, ready-to-use bags automatically and the easy-access Open Roll Storage keeps track of bag inventory, so you always know when you're running low!
The FM5460 System also combines the 2-in-1 functionality that is unique to the FoodSaver® brand. I hate this system!
My husband bought this food saver after our other one crapped out (wouldn't vacuum, only seal). This machine is beyond frustrating. You definitely need two hands. If you have one that is dirty, or are missing a limb or or have to hold a baby in one arm... Good luck! Not only does it require you to push the bar on each side simultaneously, the flap that opens to the vac and seal section doesn't stay open so you can adjust the bag in there properly. Besides all of this, you have to hold up the bag (unless it's quite oversized) instead of letting it rest on the counter. Such a bad design, overall. If you purchase I hope you're really coordinated.

An improvement over older models
I had one of these (I don't know the model) about 10 years ago, and this is a noticeable improvement. I love being able to freeze single servings and know they're better protected from freezer burn and will likely last longer - it's quite a boon to a single person who doesn't want to eat the exact same thing every day for a week. However, it isn't particularly easy to use. It's incredibly finicky about the positioning of the bag, and more than half the time, it vacuums but doesn't seal and I have to start over with the bag farther in or farther out. The bags are also ridiculously expensive and create a lot of waste, even with the "make your own" rolls.

Gimmicky junk
I have owned four foodsavers through the years and this one is by far the worst. It seems like each attempt to add another feature only serves to make the unit more cumbersome and unreliable for the simple job of pulling a vacuum and sealing a bag. The entire housing is very flexible. You need two hands to get the hidden switches to activate. The bag cutter requires a very light had because the housing is so flexible that even moderate force distorts it to the point of not working. Most likely this will be my last FoodSaver brand vacuum sealer. Sure wish I could get my original or second generation food saver back

Love it!
I've been using the Foodsaver systems for years and love that I can cook extra and freeze it for leftovers for a busy day. One thing ijust started for storing leftovers such as stew, spaghetti, beans, that type stuff or packaging hamburger meat to freeze, is once sealed I flatten them, lay them stacked in the freezer that way, less bulk and makes for more freezer room. This model is my favorite, I love the changes they made especially adding the pulse option and a window to see the end of the bag your sealing. Much better then guessing. The price is a little steep, however if you faithfully use it, you get your money's worth.

Perfect for single women!
I wanted a food saver for a long time but I was never sure how much I would use it since I am a single woman. Well it is now my favorite kitchen appliance. I use it almost daily. I have used it to marinate steak for grilling, saving leftovers, creating healthy single serving snacks, and keeping electronics safe while boating. This machine is so versatile! It is easy to use and everything is clearly labeled for quick use right out of the box. This awesome little machine will save me so much money and will help me eat healthier. I couldn't be any happier with it!

Nice with a few exceptions
Love Food Saver & hated that our old one, a Food Saver Pro, quit working properly. With the help of a Food Saver advisor we ordered the FM5460. Needed one that wasn't too tall to fit in my cabinet. I like the additional features, like the integrated hand held sealer (which I've yet to use), but I find the 2 handed operation to begin the sealing process to be less than ideal. Also, it defaults to dry so every time I have to change setting to moist. The sealing process itself seems to take a much longer time than my previous one. We seal a lot of meat so having a sealer is a necessity.....just find myself wishing my old one hadn't died.

I bought this model when I decided to upgrade from my old one. I’ve had this model for just over a year and it only will suck the air out of 2 bags, I have to let it set a few minutes then try again, if I’m lucky, it will do another couple bags. I have to continue this cycle till I’m done. Sometimes I have to quit and let it rest for about 10 minutes before it will start working again. It seems to be getting worse. My old model worked for me for about 5 years without any issues. I gave it away when I got my new one...sure wish I still had it. The new one is not what it should be. Very disappointed

Horrible Machine
If I could give this machine no stars believe I would. I have had this machine now for two months and it has been a nightmare! If you are looking for a machine that will only seal your products then this is the machine for you. If you are looking for a machine that can both vacuum and seal well look for a different version. Nothing but issues when trying to seal any type of product. If I still had my receipt I would definitely go and exchange for the lower version I had before that was awesome and did the job I needed to do. All this machine has caused is nothing but heartache and pretty much just a $200 paperweight!
