Rated 3 out of 5 by from Let's hope the next one works better I receive the FM2000 as a gift, and never owning a vacuum sealer before, I was so excited to use it.. I read the owners manual carefully and followed all instructions. I could not get the unit to vacuum seal. I contact the company and they are sending out a replacement unit.. Let's hope the next one works better. It made no sense to me how the sealer would work, but not the vacuum sealer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge improvement over older manual machines This is my 4th Food Saver sealer. A lot of thought went into improving some features that were problematic with the older manual operated models. The attachment of the power cord is now done right. I had an older model die in an electric spark & puff in smoke when I plugged in in (after many years of use). The way the old one was attached caused the cord to have a fatigue failure caused by repetitive bending upon stowing the cord (like bending a coat hanger back & forth until it breaks). FoodSaver replaced the unit free of charge. The replacement unit worked great for years until one day the sealer locking knob on the right side broke right off. Another fatigue failure of the plastic. I bought a 3rd machine which still works, but the suction motor makes some really weird noises, so I decided to buy a 4th unit thru Walmart (best price) which is the FM2000. I'm a heavy user and didn't want to have a sealer fail in the middle of a vacuum sealer project. New machine has a completely redesigned function knob. HUGE improvement. Stress on the knob eliminated which should last a long time. I have experienced many vacuum failures over the last 15 years and have learned how to prevent most of them. Most failures are due to user's doing, not product shortcoming. Vacuum sealing is a bit of a tricky process which demands paying attention to what the manual says. Juicy items require special treatment like using an inner bag (like thin plastic sandwich or bread bags) or pre-freezing before vacuum sealing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from FRUSTRATED CONSUMER! I have used a FoodSaver brand vacuum sealer for years with wonderful results. Used it so frequently I finally wore it out, so naturally I replaced it with another FoodSaver vacuum sealer (FM2000). It worked fine for the first two weeks, then it quit vacuuming sealing. Thinking it had to be a misfortunate fluke.... I purchased another. One week later, it too, has stopped vacuum sealing. The new machines are JUNK! Don't waste your money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work with any moisture I have had this about a year and while it is great for a lot of things like meat, nuts, etc, it will not seal if there is any amount of moisture in whatever I am sealing. Moisture gets sucked in and prevents it from sealing. Wishing I’d purchased the more expensive model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My first food saver I have often thought about getting one. But I didn’t want a complicated, large footprint, noisy, kitchen gadget. This one has been absolutely perfect for me as an introduction to food saver products. It’s easy! It’s small! It isn’t too loud! It’s very straight forward and super simple. I can use it to seal extra soups for later consumption in the freezer. I can vacuum seal. So as a beginner user I am very pleased. A good price point as well. Thank you for creating a small footprint, easy use, food saver!
