Leftovers have never tasted this good! A delicious marinade blend of miso, mirin, and sake take this cod to the next level—perfect for any night of the week!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 cup sake  
  • 1/4 cup mirin  
  • 1/4 cup white miso paste  
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar  
  • 4 black cod fillets

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Bring sake and mirin to boil in medium saucepan, then boil for 20 seconds to burn off alcohol.
  2. Turn the heat to low and add miso paste, whisking to combine. Once it’s all mixed together, turn the heat up again and add in the sugar, whisking until it is fully dissolved.
  3. Cool the mixture to room temperature, then pat the cod fillets dry.
  4. Place the cod fillets in a FoodSaver Preserve & Marinate Container.
  5. Pour marinade to cover cod fillets.
  6. Place the lid on securely, turn the valve to the "marinate” position.
  7. Using the FoodSaver Multi-Use Vacuum Sealing & Food Preservation System, remove the handheld attachment and attach to the valve of the container.
  8. Choose “marinate” mode and press “hand held” to start the 12-minute marinating cycle.
  9. Once complete, remove the marinated cod from the container.
  10. Place skin-side down in a nonstick skillet and cook for about 3 minutes over high heat.

STORING LEFTOVERS:

  1. Using the FoodSaver Multi-Use Vacuum Sealing & Food Preservation System, place leftovers in a gallon-sized bag.
  2. Place the bag in the drip tray and select “moist mode,” the press “vacuum.” 
  3. Once the bag is fully vacuumed, the motor will stop to seal the bag.  
  4. Then, remove the bag and refrigerate or freeze to enjoy later!
