Can't live without it
This is my 3rd Foodsaver. First one was a gift from my son at least 13 years ago when I hinted I would like one like his. The 3 items I "save"(vacuum) at the present time are: self dried shiitake mushrooms (stored in vacuumed quart jars), cut up turkeys then frozen on trays then vacuumed in Foodsaver bags, and lastly a lot of fresh walnuts at a time so again I place them in quart jars, vacuum the jars and place the jars in a 2nd refrigerator. I get the least fancy Foodsaver and replace it quickly if after years of service it quits. I am not a clean counter cook. I have my food processor, blender, juicer and Foodsaver on my working counter all the time. Full exclosure: my counter is 6 inches deeper than the standard counter so I just pull the appliance forward as I need it.

Hmmmmm
I've had this model for 5+ years. Have NEVER used the port. Not necessary to me. Just recently had to begin putingt pressure on lid to ensure vac seal. I'd like to replace with like model, but reading reviews makes me a bit nervous. ???

Mason jar sealer accessory doesn’t fit
I have model fm2900 and bought a foodsaver mason jar sealer but the accessory hose doesn’t fit into my fm2900 accessory port. I purchased from Amazon and it stated that it works with foodsaver machines. Well, not on my machine.

Unhappy
I used my food saver the first time and everything worked fine. But the second time it wouldn't vacuum unless you hold the lid down in the middle. It hasn't worked right since. It's less than 1 month old.

Cheap Model
This is my second sealer from food saver and it does not come close to my 1st one. The vacuum does not always remove all the air and the only way to ensure a halfway decent seal you have to seal it twice. Also cutting the bags to size with a straight line is next to impossible without a guide. I've taken to using a straight edge and razor knife for a straight cut. When this one dies which the way it seals and vacuums will probably be soon I'll invest in the higher end model.

Borrowed my Daughters FoodSaver now Buying One
We recently borrowed our daughters FoodSaver® FM2000 Vacuum Sealing System to use for some items we wanted to store longer term. The FoodSaver® FM2000 Vacuum Sealing System was so easy to use that immediately after using it, we went online to purchase our own FoodSaver 2100 model. After that arrives and we try it I will write a review. If only we new it was that easy to use a FoodSaver we would of bought one many years ago!

Horrible experience
Do not waste your money on this product. I have one and it is the worse ever. I thought it is suppose to help save food. Even using this I still have to throw out food in the same amount of time when I didn’t use this I feel like it was just another product that I wasted money on. I thought it would have saved me money but it didn’t save me money at all it just made me spend more money in wishful thinking of saving money.

Waste of time
I bought this unit this morning, read the instruction manual and tried to seal a pint bag with a hamburger patty in it. It will not vacuum and will not seal the bag. I tried this in another bag, after re-reading the manual, to be sure I had done the operation correctly. 5 bags and attempts later and I was right the first time this model isn't worth anything. I am going to try and return it to the store.

BROKE AFTER ONE YEAR, COMPLETE PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!
I have had this model for one year and have used it LIGHTLY. The vacuum feature no longer works, when I flip the switch to operate it automatically starts sealing the bag. After an hour of trying to get it to vacuum, by repeatedly turning it on and off, I was able to vacuum seal four packages but three of them still have air in them. This model is a complete piece of junk do not waste your money on it.

Great Product, and very useful
Great way to buy meats and other things when on sale, them vacuum pack, and freeze. Many things last fine for up to a year (or even more). This is my second FoodSaver... first one had the tightening handle break off after years of use (rest of device was in good condition, but that part isn't available). I recommend this product for its price and value for saving on ever-escalating food costs!

I purchased this unit for canning. I also ordered a wide mouth jar adapter (shown in stock) My jar adapter order was eventually cancelled, not available. The vacuum unit is currently worthless to me.

Why did I wait so long?
I should have done this years ago! I have been using vacuum bags for a long time but always resisted purchasing a vacuum sealer machine. This sealer is easy to use and very versatile. With the optional (extra purchase) bag sealer attachment it can seal vacuum bags. Or you can use either rolls of material or pre-sized bags. It comes with an assortment of material for sealing your food.

Second unit, first unit bought all the bells and whistles, didn’t last long. Bought the more simpler one would be better-NOPE. IF ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS SEAL A BAG OF CHIPS, OK works. But if you want to vac/seal good luck. It will take about 40 sec to vac a small bag, then the red light flashes, that is supposed to seal, but it doesn’t. You can then press seal and it will.

FM2000 Vacuum Sealer
I bought the FM2000 vacuum sealer just in case my old flip lid Foodsaver decides not to work. I have had the old model for 18 years & process 2-3 deer & other game annually. The older model is simpler to use, just push down on the lid. The new one has a lever & button to push. I would still recommend the FM2000 although it isn’t quite a easy to use versus the old model.

FM2000 sealing issues.
I have been a FoodSaver customer for over 20 years and my "Compact II" just broke down. I replaced it with the FM2000 and I'm disappointed. It doesn't seal properly and have just been considering requesting "Warranty" service for repair or replacement. If this unit is defective and it is repaired or replaced, then I'll be happy. If not I would not recommend this model.

Quick and easy
I have owned a few of these gizmos. This is by far the best model I have had. I had another brand that was good but did not last long. I have a FoodSaver 4800 which was expensive, bulky and temperamental. This one was reasonably priced, easy to use and doesn’t take 3 minutes to cool down for the next seal. HURRAH!!! Makes me want to vacuum seal everything!

Does not vacuum seal!
I purchased this machine to seal my dried fruits and vegetables from our orchard and garden. The bags I’m using are recommended and not the reusable kind but should vacuum seal. My machine seals but will not vacuum seal. I am following the instructions given on the inside of the machine but it will not suction seal! I’m very discouraged! What do I do?

We love our new food sealer
We ordered this sealer to replace one that we had for a few years. The old one was still working but not removing air without the need to hold the top down. This new sealer is sooo much better. We can use the bigger bags to seal large steaks and roasts with no problem. Saves us money and our foods are preserved perfectly. We highly recommend this one.

Great vacuum sealing system
My son bought me this as a birthday gift. I absolutely love this vacuum sealing machine! I find it fun to make packages of chicken, veggies, etc after buying in bulk and make dinner size packages for my husband and I.
This system is easy to use and keeps frozen packets airtight; making them last longer and keep fresh and free from freezer burn !

Bad business
We freeze a lot of our fresh vegetables and meats. I bought the reusable sealer bags, to use with the FM2000 system. The box has the sealing hose but not the adapter you need to seal the reusable bags.
What a waste of money, and in my opinion bad business.
I bought this model because of the compact size of it.
I xan not recommend this model.

This unit has only green connectors on hose which DONT work with either the V2440 port or the container ports. They require a grey fitting, not green. A hybrid might work (there are pictures of these but nowhere to be found anywhere online so far) but the model FM2000 I bought and returned had pitiful vacuum compared to my V2440.

For vacuuming heat seal bags, our appliances pull between 10 and 18 inches of mercury when vacuuming from the vacuum channel. For containers and zipper bags, our appliances pull between 7 and 10 inches of mercury when vacuuming from the accessory hose.
