Use these FoodSaver Preserve & Marinate Vacuum Containers to lock in freshness and seal in flavor, with 2 different settings to choose from. Turn the valve to Vacuum Mode and attach to a handheld sealer (sold separately) to help keep food fresh in the freezer, fridge, and pantry. Or switch to Marinate Mode to marinate meat, fish, and veggies in minutes instead of hours. Great, so far!
This review is unsolicited. They work great, so far and haven't shown any cracks, although I haven't used these that much, yet. I test all of my containers as soon as I get them and they held the seal for over 48 hours, until I released them. I also have 2 5-cup containers, which are only available at Target, as far as I know. They aren't available on this site, as customer service told me that they have exclusive deals with different retailers. The lids of these new containers do not have the plastic piece under the suction hole, like the older containers. I have been storing my instant coffee in one of them and the "coffee dust" gets around the hole, but the vacuum seal still holds. Impressive. They have done everything I have expected of them, so I can recommend them, without hesitation.

New Containers
The new containers don't work any better than the old ones. None of the old design held the seal for more than a few hours. The new one is the same way doesn't hold the seal at all. The only ones that ever hold a seal are the clear canisters with white lids. Never have an issue with those and go figure they don't make those any longer. I love the bags they work great but the containers are a huge disappointment. I was so hoping for a product that worked.

New container versus the old version container.
I was concerned with the new type of container, being I still have the older version which I am using today. I am most impressed with the new way of sealing the container from the old version. The other issue I noticed is the seal is way better than the older version, with the older version the rubber seal kept coming off when I removed the lid and had to put the rubber back in place prior to sealing the container. Some of my older versions plastic body which I have had for 5 years plus, cracked with normal use, Judgement on this issue is still out, I will be ordering more of these new style containers.

Built well. Work well.
These containers are very thick for food storage containers. The lids are very well made and the seal is excellent. I went off book and marinated chicken in a spicy/ginger/yogurt marinade for a couple hours in the fridge under vacuum. The chicken kabobs I made came out very tasty. Will use this a lot. One thing I'd like to note is that I used this with my older model vacuum sealer and jar sealing hose. Was perfect. I was a little nervous as the picture showed the newer vacuum hose outfit.

FoodSaver by Jarden: Great concept/But Lacking
The FoodSaver concept of vacuum containers to make food last longer is a great concept, and I have been purchasing the containers for many years. HOWEVER, the containers are notorious for cracking, sometimes even exploding. They are not constructed well-enough to stand the pressure after the air is extracted. Sometimes there are slow air leaks, sometimes the container and the tops of the containers will literally crack when using the food sealer machine to extract the air. Sometimes I will hear an exploding sound in the kitchen. When I go to investigate, I will find a container in pieces. Then periodically I will contact FoodSaver (Jarden), and they will deliver to me free replacement containers. But that is a hassle. Why do I continue to buy this product, and go through the major hassle of contacting them to obtain free replacements? Is because I like the product for the purpose of making food last longer. But it really is a hassle. You would think that in this day and age a company could make a product that would last much longer. I also within the last few months purchased another FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer System, (Model : FM2000-015), -- but it is under-powered and takes significantly much longer to draw-out the air from a container, than previous vacuum sealer systems I have purchased from them. Major hassle. Also, when re-ordering containers or hoses, often those items are not in stock. For all of the reasons above, is why I only give a 2-star rating. Would love to give a 5-star rating review. But Jarden needs to make containers that can weather the pressure and not crack or explode. GC Alexandria, Virginia

Perfect in sealing your food
I marinated some chicken in this container and the results were great. I put the seal on and no smell of the seasoning came out and the fridge was season free. This is a great product for food storage

IMPLODES. THREE TIMES NOW.
I've purchased 3 of this unit and it always ends up the same. They eventually implode because the plastic can't hold the vacuum. The container's plastic becomes stressed with cracks and they just give way. Twice it imploded in my hands and scared me because it was so loud and this last time overnight to find the bottom piece inside the contrlainer with food underneath. I love Foodsaver and how much I have saved over the years, but they need to reformulate the plastic to hold the vacuum seal. The best design were the circular containers with the round tops, but unfortunately, I've had many of those that eventually crack on the center part on the bottom. I'm out about $90 just on this container style. Foodsaver, please produce a container that will last!

Very disappointing!
I LOVE the Foodsaver I've been using for years, but don't love single use plastic so I was really excited to see these containers and resealable pouches!
BUT
Of the 6 containers I bought, only 4 will hold a vacuum seal. Thank goodness for the little pop-up vacuum indicator thingy because otherwise I'd just assume they're working when they're not. So... points to Foodsaver for that.
Otherwise, I feel like I wasted a BUNCH of money on a poor quality product that I can't return because they've been used (had to buy the little hand sealer too). Have had similar hit or miss results with the resealable bags, too.

When I seal a bag the red seal light comes on. &nbsp;When I use a seal or marinate a seal marinate vacuum container the vacuum stops and the red seal light does not light. &nbsp;Is this a problem or does the seal indicator only come on when a bag is sealed?

While vacuum sealing our FoodSaver&reg; Preserve &amp; Marinate Vacuum Containers, you have a green indicator on top of the lid. When the air is completely removed from the container, the green indicator will collapse. Hope this information helps. The lid of the container is made of polyethylene and we do not recommend heating it up to such temperatures. The bottom part of the container is made of tritan which is substantially more resistant to heat and can be safely used beyond the boiling point of water, however, we only recommend using our containers in a microwave and only for periods of time no longer than 5 minutes.
