Hello, thank you for reaching out to us at FoodSaver® . We will be more than happy to answer your question! You can use regular rolls for warming up vacuum sealed food in warm water. Channels and multi-layer construction blocks moisture and oxygen and makes the bags strong enough to simmer. However our Sous Vide bags will provide best performance for sous vide cooking. Hope this information helps. Should you have any inquiries or further questions, please let us know by sending an email through our FoodSaver® website or you may call us at our toll-free number 1-877-777-8042. For your convenience, we are available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday - Friday, EST. Thank you for choosing FoodSaver®.

FoodSaver - your answer to the question (asked numerous times) "How are the Sous Vide bags different then the regular ones?" is insufficient. Is this just a gimmick to sell more product?

I believe the distinction was made clear in the answer to Squirrelly931, namely the sous vide bags are rated to 195* F and the regular bags are rated to 185* F. Neither bag is rated for boiling (212* F at STP) which seems to be confusing to many of the other posters.

Hello, this is Mateusz from FoodSaver! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your questions! Firstly, our sous vide bags can be reused only if no hazardous food such as raw meat has been placed inside of it. Secondly, the handheld sealer is only usable with our FoodSaver Zipper Bags and will not work with any other type of FoodSaver bags. Lastly, it is possible to seal bags with small amounts of liquid inside provided that this food is not close to the vacuuming and sealing end. The bags has to then be watched with extra care so that no liquid makes its way into the unit. Thank you and please stay safe! FoodSaver Care

I'm new to sous vide and looking at comments the Food Saver bags seem to be failing at higher temperatures. I use Ziplock Freezer bags now up to 150 degrees with no problem. I want to use for higher temperatures and wondering if these have been improved.

Hello, this is Patrycja from FoodSaver! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question! The sous-vide mode is created with the intent to create the most suitable conditions for sous-vide cooking. The vacuum created by it is lighter on the food to enable it to be cooked to perfection. We do not recommend using it in temperatures above the boiling point of water (100 degrees celsius) as it might cause the bag to lose its integrity or melt due to excessive temperature Thank you and please stay safe! I can tell you from experience that the normal sealing bags will open up when boiled. I did this with some stew I had frozen several years ago and I ended up with stew leaking out in the water. So, short answer is NO!
