FoodSaver® Master Chef Kit
Pleasing to the eye and gets the work done quickly
After years of hunting and fishing I wanted a vacuum sealer to extend my harvest meats usable for longer periods of time. I chose the Food Saver 3880 over other brands due to the new design fully automatic vacuum sealing kit that will speed up the time it takes to get veggies, game and fish from the cutting board to the freezer .This alone translates to a better way to process food and freeze it for a better table taste when it is cooked some weeks and months later. The Food Saver v 3880 will also save space in the freezer due the fact that you do not have to freeze fish in water. No freezer BURNS.

Easy to use and works as advertised!
My father bought one of the original foodsaver vacuum sealers many years ago, but that one is primitive compared to this one! It is very easy to make bags from the provided roll, just make sure you read how to make the bags and not do what I did and wait for the air to be vacuumed out with an open end (grin). Also the portions roll worked very well for when I prepared some beef skewers to freeze. The automatic performance was even easier to use than what I had expected. Overall, I now use it for all my meat and produce purchases to make sure they don't go bad. The only thing I found inconvenient was the provided roll just didn't last long enough.

Good product for light use; Flawed for heavy use
This model is very easy to use. Just slide the bag in and wait. It's that easy.
The problems are:
• Moisture can cause the bags to not seal
• Moisture on the outside of the bag can make the bags difficult to insert
• The machine overheats if you make more than a dozen seals in a row
• It's loud enough to disturb people that are trying to watch TV in another room
If I cut up two whole chickens and try to bag them for the freezer, it will over heat before I'm finished. I once purchased 120 fresh fish and it took me all day to bag and freeze them because the machine had to cool down after a about dozen or so bags.

Can't live without it!
This is one of the best Food Savers. It has a mind of its own by sealing without using a dial. It also has a built in cord for marinating, wine bottles (using FoodSaver stoppers) and canisters. I have had a FoodSaver for ten years and the secret to having one is to keep it on a counter at the ready. This model takes up very little room and is so attractive. I have one in my vacation home as well and have given one to all of my children. TIP: I write content notes above the seal line which gets cut off when opening the bag. The bag is then ready for reuse with no writing on it. Worth every penny - don't think about it. We spend more on handbags!!!

Difficult to operate
I have model v2480 and works intermittently. Just purchased model V3880, which is no comparison. V3880 I feel wastes bags. You don't really have control of how much bag you want to use. The sealer is too difficult to navigate. I made 6 bags. Took me about 15 minutes. Tried to vacuum and seal the food and was successful with sealing only one. All the others sealed but did not vacuum. The machine does not stop when you press stop, it only stopped when I turned the machine off. Extremely time consuming and I am not satisfied at all. I am returning this item to the store. If I could get my V2480 repaired, I would be a happy customer.

A GREAT IMPROVEMENT
have had this unit for over a month now and I have to say its easy to use....took a few tries to get use to it but soon was happily sealing away...only thing I would complain about is if you have a bag of something that you just want to seal and not vacumn....for instance a bag you previously sealed and then have opened and used some of.....it is almost impossible to re-seal if the bag is not long enough...wish they had designed it so you could just press seal for that reason otherwise you need that extra 1/2" or so of bag to get the auto vacumn/seal to work....other than that its a great product and I love it

After reading on the great reviews I thought this would be a no brainer. Sadly I'm one of the few that has had no luck with this product. Only about 1 out of 10 bags vacuum on the first try. The others I have to reposition numerous times before I get a successful vacuum and some won't ever vacuum. I've read the manual and tried the troubleshooting ideas. I've went to two rolls thinking that there must be a learning curve and I'm not doing it right. My husband watch me last night and said that we're not dealing with this and it's going back. I sadly agree. I'm also disappointed that it says the gaskets aren't replaceable. When I spend this much money on something, the critical parts should be replaceable.

Pricey but worth it
Going to keep this short. While the price of FoodSaver sealers and the bags are rather pricey they are worth it to me. We hunt and sealing our game ensures it doesn't freezer burn so we get to make use of every ounce. The unit has also allowed us to keep leftovers longer and even keep some things like button mushrooms fresh longer so we didn't have to throw the last few away.
I still think their prices are high but I waited for a big sale to buy my unit and I always try to use coupons when getting bags. If you can do that it helps to offset the costs a good bit.
