FoodSaver® V3820 Vacuum Sealer
I had the original Food Saver for over ten years and loved it. After it stopped working I purchased a new model V3821, 9 months ago. I have wasted more bags in 9 months than I did in the past 10 years. After only sealing 3 items the vacuum becomes temperamental. It stops vacuuming and only seals. I then have to cut that section off and try again. The second and third tries usually don't work either. When it does work, I have to wait 2 minute between seals. A half hour job takes an hour and a half. I have never sworn at a physical object as much as I have with this sealer. These new models are terrible. Welcome to cheapening this product. Maybe they should try and manufacture them in the USA. If there is a competitors product, try that first.

I am furious
year after year my original foodsaver worked like a charm, sealing everything I gave it until age and usage wore it out. Now i ordered a new foodsaver, thinking I would have had what I had, not the case, at twice the cost of the orginal, It sealed two, only two and the vacuum quit. I was in the process of sealing hundreds of dollars of ham, which i have done year after year. This year, I can't even think of what this is going to cost me. Tomorrow I have to go replace the inferior sealer I I purchased with one that will work so all of our months of hard work, not to mention the cost of the meat and the cost of the bags I had to throw out because I kept trying again and again but only got sealed bags with no air taken out. I am so upset.

waste of bags
This is my second purchase of a Foodsaver product because I guess I wore the last one out after a year & 1\2. with the older model I could seal the bags @ about 1\4 inch in from the edge. This model MAKES you put the bag in by about 1 1\2 inch wasting bag that is about 40 bucks for one box. This machine is VERY picky on how you put the bags in for sealing. Overall I am NOT satisfied with this machine. PLEASE!!!!! Bring back the older model....

deficient engineering and mechanics
We had to replace another foodsaver that lasted 2 years (just out of warrenty), so purchased this, per strong recommendation from a lady at Costco. First impression was that there were way too many moving parts on this - and I should not buy it. Went ahead and bought and from minute one was disappointed. First of all, you need 4 extra inches per bag (regardless of length) for the sealer to activate and seal. This is significant waste. Compare this to the picture presented in their advertisement with what appears a small amount of space, and you see right away poor representation. Then the operational problems began, where the sealing strip sealed only intermittently with the suction. The drip tray had to be completely dried and cleaned before the "full tray" signal would turn off. When sealing lots of veges this became a big problem. Thankfully in ways, the sealer quit working and we were able to return for a full refund. When looking at the engineering of this unit, and reading features of other models, we are done with FOODSAVER. While their machines may have lots of features, the essential mechanics are deficient.

This machine is the biggest waste of money for any vacuum sealer. I have used multiple vacuum sealers, and they all seem the same. You cant seal more than a few things at a time before the piece of junk overheats, or just stops pulling the appropriate amount of air from the bag. Biggest piece of junk I have ever bought.

This is my 1st Foodsaver. Pretty happy so far. I will agree with the ones who state the machine is "picky" on how its loaded, but once you get the hang of it, that issue goes away. I was a little concerned about the cost of the bags, but when you order on this site and use promo codes you can get these things for a steal, expecially when you consider the the savings on food. I have used it to freeze cooked roast, mashed potatoes and lots of other cooked foods and all kids of raw items.... LOVE IT!

going to return it asap
Well it makes bags, it's a great sealer, but will not vacuum. It sounds like it's vacuuming, much like my old k**more did, however it will not vacuum. It seals tons of air inside the bag which would be GREAT if I were making my own bubble wrap. However, I'm trying to freeze vegetables from my garden and this $150 machine is junk. Looks great while on the counter waiting to be put back in the box though.

Looks good, sounds good, not good.
I just read the reviews after having mine fail to remove the air. Same problem the other users had. Did 5 packages of steaks and one package of chicken and machine stopped pulling the air out. SO, did as the other reviewers, let stand for 20 min went back to sealing and the machine functioned fine. Must be overheating. For the money no machine should act like this, poor design on the mechanics that make the sealer go. Stay away read other product reviews to find a better model.
