FoodSaver® V3240 Vacuum Sealer
I received this foodsaver for Christmas 2011. As previews reviews stated, the door also jammed on mine, and completely broke. I called company and they immediately sent a new one. Well, almost a year later, it did the exact same thing. Called the company and they are sending another one, only this time a different model. This one never seemed to seal that great either. But I did use a lot and love using it to seal chip bags, veggie bags, etc. This company has wonderful customer service, and just because this model isn't that great and kept breaking, it says a lot for their customer service and it will keep me buying their products!

Good product until it broke after 2 months
This was my first vacuum sealer and first FoodSaver product. It seemed good and easy to use...until it stopped vacuuming and the door jammed after I'd had to for two months. I'd only used it about once or twice a week during that time period and followed the instructions each time, so I know it wasn't from repetitive use or incorrect usage.
To have it replaced through the warranty, I will have to pay for the shipping (which is about $20 via UPS) and wait for a month to have it replaced. Meanwhile, the food I'd been planning to seal with it will spoil.

Very poor design
Between my wife and daughter we have had 3 Foodsavers. This one belongs to my daughter. As the previous reviewer indicated, the unit will hang up and not recover. This typically happens if the handle is pressed down before the load cycle finishes. My son-in-law has done this several times. The only solution is to open the unit, remove the limit switches to fool the control and let it complete it's cycle. Another time the spring holding the vacum release valve failed and I had to replace it. This time, I could not make it recover. The vacuum pump runs constantly, the switch lights will not come on, and no matter what I do to reposition the lock-down mechanism, it will not recover.
We like the result when the product works and may buy a replacement, but NOT this model.

My sealing companion back and it is improved!
I became a FoodSaver Customer in 1970's, that product lasted over 30 years. I had planned to get another one, but recently was able to purchase the V3240 on a certain shop at home network. I was tired of food spoilage, especially after retiring. Seeing the ad, reminded me of what I was missing. My old counter top food saver is a money saver and I was the one who became "spoiled" by having it. I am happy to have this newer model and the new updated accessories. My Sister will get hers as a Christmas Present, I share all good things with her. Looking good and staying healthier.

waste of money!
We purchased this product to seal sausage that we make. We went with a middle of the road price because we only use it 2-3 times a year for only 5lbs at a time. The first time we used it, it worked fine but every time since then it is worse and worse. It will seal as many bags as you need but you can only vacuum one at a time! You seal/vacuum and after the first one the vacuum will not work, you have to wait for at least 5-10 minutes for it to work again. We just made jerky and for 8 bags it took 45 minutes to seal them all. We have tried putting a fan on it to keep the bar cool and also blowing on it, nothing works. The product is very disappointing and we have gone back to using zipper baggies for our needs now. We will buy a new sealer in the future but will try from a different manufacturer.

Food Saver V3240
I to had it less than a year and it stopped vacuuming and the door would not open. Very dissatisfied with this product. Would NOT recommend this model.

I've had this unit for a few months and am very satisfied so far. Sealed 50# of burger I ground, 20# italian sausage I made, along with 5 4# pork buts. Don't know if I am that slow or what but the unit has never overheated as stated by some. Never had a misseal. I ave use only rolls, haven't yet used the bags or canisters but I am pretty sure they will work fine also. Like I said only had it a short while so we'll see how it holds up. All I know is I don't want to be without one very long.

Door mechanism breaks
The door to this machine has an automatic closing mechanism. If this mechanism breaks, it is impossible to manually close the door and seal anything. Our first unit broke after about 6 months. Our replacement broke 10 months later. It is very frustrating because otherwise we love it....until the door breaks. It is a dilemma for us to decide how to replace this!
