Love it! We bought this because it's one of the larger containers available. That being said, it can understandably take a few more moments than the smaller containers to vacuum. We also really like its durability- it keeps us with us! The bonus grater is perfect; you can even leave it in the container. And since there's no air exposure, we keep several kinds of cheeses in it at once. They've never lasted so long. Another great use is for caramel corn. We like to make a big batch, and several days later it's still fresh as the hour it cooled. Any other container and the corn's always stale and lost its crunch in a few hours. Recommend it? I want a pile of these! February 6, 2014
Cracks, cracks, everywhere I have had this for awhile, but I've really only used it once or twice, and there are more cracks in it than I can count. They are not just on the bottom, but all across the sides as well. I've had cracks on the round canisters as well, but only on the bottoms. Although the rectangular one is still holding the seal (I keep the empty canisters partially vacuum sealed, so the the lids won't fall off accidentally), but with so many cracks, I'm afraid that it might shatter when I use it with a full seal. Come on Foodsaver, your sealer is excellent, how about making your canisters hold up better! June 16, 2014
Does not hold up under normal use conditions I purchased one of these in January. I have only used it 3 times and have never put it into a dishwasher. It has developed multiple stress fractures around the base. I am very disappointed that it was not built to withstand even minimal use. Overall despite the fact that it functions great, it's lifespan does not make it worth the money. December 29, 2013
Not diswasher safe and develops cracks on base I've been through a few of these and they have several design flaws. First, if you try to wash them in the dishwasher the plastic latches become brittle and break off, ruining the piece. Next, the base can develop cracks just from normal use. Overall I'm disappointed, they should be designed much better. Most probably barely make it through their 1 yr warranty period and at this price they should do a lot better. Not recommended. good stuff need more sizes I have all foodsaver containers. They all work great. I,d like to put a head of iceberg lettuce in a container but foodsaver does not have ine big enough. I would like to put fresh bread w/o preservatives in a foodfresh container to delay the onset of mlld but again they don,t have one big enough. What do you say guys? Make some bigger containers! If you make them we will buy them! February 8, 2014
Doesn't hold up I'll start by saying that I liked the rectangular canister that I had for about a year before one of the handles broke, and mine was used only on the table top for storing bread. I really liked to use it for that rather than storing it in the freezer and I don't store bread in the frig because it dries it before I use it up. I was going to ask Santa for another but checked the reviews here and at Amazon and see that others have had trouble with this rectangular canister, mostly crazing in the corners that led to inability to hold a seal. I didn't notice that issue, nor have I had any trouble with the set of cylindrical canisters that I do use in the frig, mostly for lettuce. I wish the company would improve on this product so it will live up to the quality of the rest of the line. I would also like to see a rectangular canister designed specifically to store packets of seeds for the garden from one year to the next, to prolong their germination ability.. December 13, 2013
Great shape for storage Fits our refridgerator much better than the round container, but the seal valve can sometimes stick. If it fails to seal, take off the round valve cover on the lid and push the valve a few times. May 24, 2013
Fantastic storage container! I bought the casserole container because I had been looking for something to keep bread. This turner out to be the perfect container for keeping over half a loaf of bread fresh and soft for what seems like forever. The only negative thing I can say is that I find I am now buying and eating more bread! Before I avoided buying bread unless there was a need because it doesn't stay fresh long in the freezer and molds before I am able to consume the entire loaf. Now I put half the loaf in the Food Saver container and the other half goes in the freezer. The bread is always fresh and when I get down to the last two slices I take the other half out of the freezer. Previously I had been using the larger round container to keep bread fresh, but it only would hold about 5-6 slices at a time. I love this so much that I will be ordering another on just to see if I can keep the bread in it fresh without having to freeze any of the loaf! Great buy and it will pay for itself easily!
